For your wedding processional, consider a professional trumpet soloist. Bill Hicks plays classical, baroque, and overtures, depending on the mood you want to create for your wedding ceremony. Trumpet music is the most cost-effective selection for your ceremonial music and creates a spectacular sound for your wedding. You may customize the music to heighten the mood or to emphasize a particular theme. Bill will work with you to create the perfect music for your wedding processional. At formal weddings, he will work with your own church organist. For less formal weddings, Bill can obtain a keyboard player for you. Bill usually performs trumpet solos, but if you prefer the sound of two trumpets, he can suggest a second trumpeter.

The trumpet has long been called upon by the church to herald the most important ceremonial events. No other instrument commands the beauty and authority of a trumpet. A Bill Hicks trumpet solo will add a flair of joy and festivity, and power and majesty to your special day.

Bill Hicks also plays herald trumpet fanfares for special announcements, award ceremonies or to hail the arrival of dignitaries and special guests. One or two herald trumpeters, clad in tails and white gloves, will make your announcement special and add a touch of class to your event.

Below is a partial repertoire of Bill's most popular wedding music; he will make every effort to accommodate your special music requests.

Bill Hicks offers private trumpet lessons in his studio near Denver, PA. and also online, real-time Skype lessons.

Former lead trumpet player with the Harry James Band, Bill Hicks was a student of the late Claude Gordon. For 17 years, while playing professionally in Los Angeles, Bill Hicks studied with Gordon, the "King of Brass." Band leader, studio musician, teacher and author, Gordon left his legacy through thousands of students like Bill and through his method books, which can still be purchased today. Bill Hicks emphasizes a physical approach to trumpet playing, conditioning through rigorous routines, following his teaching from Gordon. Studying with Bill in his studio prepares the professional player to meet every challenge and helps the young student blossom into an enterprising player. Bill works with a range of students from advanced to beginners and drills students on the basics. Though his teaching is based primarily on Claude Gordon's routines, he also hits a wide variety of other basic trumpet method books. Bill teaches students how to practice and how to handle the trumpet in all situations. Any student of Bill Hicks, with motivation and correct practice, will dramatically improve his or her upper and lower range, attacks, lip flexibility and all-around playing, preparing the young student to move into classical or dance band material. His students learn to handle the horn. Bill is a perfectionist in his teaching and it shows in his work, and in the work of his students.

Bill has played with a long list of artists ranging from Natalie Cole and the Four Tops, to Frank Sinatra. He also has an impressive list of recording, film and TV credits. See all his credits here.
